Trustees
Our Trustees all have an interest in Temple Hill, some live here, some work here and others give their time because of their belief in Temple Hill, its residents and its environment. Trustees are elected each year at the Trust’s Annual General Meeting and appointments of Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are voted in by the Trustees at the subsequent Trust meeting. Each Trustee has different experience and expertise which they draw upon to manage the Trust’s community development work. The Trustees’ responsibility is to manage the work and the finances of the Trust in line with its constitution and to guide the Chief Executive to ensure that the Trust is fulfilling its charitable aims and purposes.
Annabel Archer - Chair
Annabel is a resident of Temple Hill and is Chair of the Trust. She has worked for over 10 years for NABS, the marketing communications charity. She is particularly interested in promoting the Forest School initiative and the development of the Woodland into a place for local children to learn and develop their understanding of themselves within their environment… and just have fun outdoors. She is a trained Level 3 Forest School practitioner.
Lorraine Bathgate - Vice-Chair
Lorraine our Vice-Chair is an early-retired teacher of Textiles and Art from Abbey Wood Secondary School. She was born on Temple Hill and still has family and friends here. She is Chair of the Voluntary Management Committee running the Youth Centre on Temple Hill Square and is strongly involved with St Edmunds Church at the Living Well, having been a Church Warden. She is a member of the Leadership Team, sings in the music group and helps to run Edz Kidz youth group. She supports the Forest School initiative within the Enchanted Woodland and believes it will be an excellent resource for Temple Hill, both for young people and adults.
Sharon Phillips - Secretary
Sharon has a passion for Dartford – its people and environs, having lived in the locality all her life. Her work at the Living Well Healthy Living Centre on Temple Hill encompasses developing partnerships and projects which encourage and empower people to take charge of their health and make healthy lifestyle choices. She has been the founding light behind the steelpan youth band, Steel Ambition, and is currently working on the creation of a community allotment within Dartford. Sharon has brought her skills in administration, networking and partnership development to the Trust being its first Secretary.
Yvonne Millington - Treasurer
Yvonne is the Trust’s Treasurer. She is a local resident and works as Administrator for St Edmund’s Church Living Well which is the Trust’s registered office. Her administrative skills and financial background along with her committed interest in the local community make her an ideal Treasurer for the Trust. She believes that the Enchanted Woodland will provide opportunities for local schools and residents to enjoy being in a safe, natural setting which is right on their doorstep.
Claire Clark
Claire was formerly the Extended Schools Co-ordinator at Temple Hill CP School but is now Deputy Headteacher at Fleetdown Junior School with responsibility for Extended Schools. She feels very passionately about the empowerment of the community and the links that can be made through schools as a result of involvement with organisations such as the Temple Hill Trust.
Emily Barnes
I am proud to have been involved from the outset with the Temple Hill Trust and Enchanted Woodland Project. To begin with I was the key contact at Hyde Housing Association who led on the bids to secure funding as well as provide funding and support to get the project off the ground. I no longer work at Hyde but remain a firm supporter of what the Temple Hill Trust is doing and have witnessed the positive impact of the work within Temple Hill. I have very recently taken a break, after ten years of working within a range of communities, to be a house-wife and a new mother. Temple Hill Trust is a project I feel strongly connected to and I am really looking forward to staying involved and helping it grow stonger.
Emma Donovan Brown
My name is Emma Donovan Brown and I am a Senior Manager at Temple Hill Community Primary School and Nursery. I currently manage the nursery and am Special Needs Coordinator and Extended Schools Co-ordinator also. I am pleased to be one of the Trustees of the Temple Hill Trust as I am interested in developing the schools position within the work that the Trust does and highlighting the impact that our school community can have in the wider community.
Syd Goodwin
Syd Goodwin is retired and has been a Ranger for the Trust since February 2009, and is now our Head Ranger. He keeps the Enchanted Woodland as safe and tidy as possible, being a friendly and regular presence in the woodland whilst working to keep the paths open for the residents of Temple Hill. He became a Trustee at the end of 2009. Syd brings to the Trust his many years of experience of volunteering and being a Trustee for the Foresters Fund For Children.
Avtar Sandhu
I am Avtar Sandhu or ‘Av’ and have lived in Dartford for 40 years. Married with two children, I now run the family business managing the Amar Hall in East Hill and a Mobile Bar which is available to hire.
My father, Darshan Singh Sandhu, was awarded the MBE for outstanding services to the community in Her Majesty’s Birthday’s honours list in 1999 and I have followed in his community spirited footsteps having been a director of Dartford FC, a founder member and Chairman of the Directors Club, which assists local businesses, and a Trustee of Kent Peoples Trust.
I was happy to be elected to the Kent County Council in 2009 serving the Customer and Communities, Regeneration and Development and Dementia Commitees and have been able to further my commitment to the local community by my appointment as a Councillor to Dartford Borough Council.
Wilfred Hohenkirk, 'Kirk'
Wilfred Hohenkirk is a successful business entrepreneur with interests spanning the printing and music sectors. He is also heavily involved in steelband music through his company Wilfkirk Promotions, established in 2002. He is the founder of KWA Graphics Limited, a successful venture in the design and printing industry, the company being sold in 2002.
He teaches steelpan music in schools in various Boroughs and manages and plays for Phase5 Steelband. Kirk started Steel Ambition Steelband as a grant funded project under the Temple Hill Trust in 2008 and has continued as a volunteer instructor since the first project finished.
Apart from steelband music he is passionate about sports, particularly cricket, and is fondly known as Kirk in the local community.
“My belief has always been ‘to supplement the efforts of others’ and The Temple Hill Trust is a perfect example of how to achieve that balance.”
Tom Gardiner
I am Hyde Plus' regeneration Manager for South East London & Kent. I manage a small team to co-ordinate Hyde Plus activities across the region.
I've worked in housing for 5 years, mostly in East London and I'm looking forward to working with the Temple Hill Trust to get residents of the Estate more engaged with the Trust's work.
